We have spent the last three weeks building your power, strengthening your engine, and mastering your recovery. Now, it is time to bring it all together. Welcome to
Week 4: HYBRID Week, the final phase of our MOVE campaign.
In a hybrid training model, you are not just a specialist in one area. You are building a body that is versatile, resilient, and ready for any physical demand. This is the exact mindset you will need as we get closer to our highly anticipated
Summer Inter-Club Challenge.
What is Hybrid Training? Hybrid training is the art of balancing different fitness modalities within a single week or even a single session. Instead of choosing between being "strong" or "fit," a hybrid athlete aims for both.
By combining the explosive intensity of
HIIT, the sustained endurance of
RUN, and the strategic repair of
RECOVER, you create a well-rounded physical foundation. This ensures that you have the "top gear" to sprint when needed and the "aerobic base" to keep going when others start to fade.
The Blueprint for the Summer Challenge The Summer Inter-Club Challenge is designed to test every pillar of your fitness. In
June 2026, Fitness4Less will go head-to-head in a "Club vs. Club" points system held at our
Cambridge Heath club. The event features a 40-minute community race split into two high-energy sections:
ENGINE (cardio) and
BURN (strength). Working in teams, you will have 5-minute windows to rack up maximum reps and distance for your club.
This is a community-driven event for everyone, so rather than a "win-to-qualify" system, we invite any member to nominate themselves to represent their club. To help you prepare for the big day, we recommend following this hybrid routine during Week 4:
- Prioritise Variety: Mix your HIIT intervals with steady-state treadmill work to keep your heart guessing.
- Compound the Benefits: Try a "Power 5" move followed immediately by an "Engine 5" sprint to mimic the transitions of the challenge.
- Never Neglect the Reset: As the intensity peaks this week, your recovery movements become even more vital to prevent burnout before the big event.
The Hybrid 5 Challenge To give you a taste of what is to come, pick up The
Hybrid 5 challenge card at reception. This routine is the ultimate test of your progress. It combines the most effective movements from the previous three weeks into one high-performance circuit.
Pick up a Challenge Card to see the full Level 1 to 3 targets for each stage:
- Row (The HIIT Entry): Spikes the heart rate immediately to test your power under pressure.
- Kettlebell Goblet Squats (The Power): Builds strength-endurance, preparing your legs for the final race sprint.
- Run OR 2km Bike (The Engine): The core cardiovascular test and the heart of the Summer Challenge.
- Mountain Climbers (The Finisher): Tests core stability and mental resolve with a final metabolic "burn."
- Guided Stretch (The Recovery): Lowers cortisol levels and begins the repair process immediately.
It is your final dress rehearsal before the inter-club competition begins.
