Everyday Things You Could Be Doing That Affect Your Mobility

Everyday Things You Could Be Doing That Affect Your Mobility

We all go through life in our own way and it's easy to forget to be mindful of certain physical habits that develop over time. These habits, without you knowing, can have a long-term impact on your mobility and the way you navigate the world. Check out these things you could be doing to affect your mobility and how you can prevent them:

Ignoring Pain
Ignoring joint pain could mean ignoring muscle imbalances. Simple remedies such as ice compression, elevating the affected area, and heat packs can help reduce inflammation. If your pain is detected and treated early, it can prevent long-lasting issues such as bone degeneration, posture, and mobility issues. Be sure to speak to your doctor if the pain persists or gets worse.

Overexerting Yourself
While we all know working hard is part of life and many of us have jobs or hobbies that require repetitive movement, this can put a strain on your body after a long period of time. As a result, this strain can lead to overexertion which is influenced by a lot of things such as age, medical history, your environment and the activity you are doing. Exercising daily, getting proper sleep, and taking regular breaks are all ways to prevent overexertion and improve your mobility.

Practising Poor Posture
Do you ever sit and catch yourself slouching? Or have you noticed that the pillow you've had for a while leaves you waking up with a sore neck? Bad posture leads to many mobility issues such as spinal dysfunction, back pain and a weakened core. This can affect your everyday life but can easily be remedied by stretching regularly, keeping your core in shape to support your spine and sitting on chairs that are ergonomically optimised for your activity.

Excessive Mobile Phone Use
Our mobile phones are an extension of us but prolonged periods of use can lead to severe neck issues. Using your mobile phone can lead to a forward head posture which can cause chronic neck pain and reduced range of neck motion. Make sure while you are scrolling through TikTok and Instagram, that you are stretching your neck and reducing the amount of time you spend on your device.

Avoid getting sucked into the habits of life by catching yourself and placing preventative measures into your routine to keep your body moving optimally.
