How To Make Exercise A Healthy Habit

How To Make Exercise A Healthy Habit

Right now, we are all about factoring in the feel good and as well all know, exercise is notorious for releasing those happy hormones and making you feel like a million bucks but the only way this is possible, is with consistency. This means finding a schedule and sticking to it. We don't think exercise should be a chore, but rather a part of your life like brushing your teeth or making your bed. Here are our tips on how you can turn exercise into a habit:

Make it Fun
If you associate a habit with something negative, you are more likely to give up on it. But if it's associated with being enjoyable and fun, you are probably going to want to lean into it more. This is why making exercise fun is so important. Don't do push-ups if you hate them, avoid burpees if you're filled with dread at the thought of them, and why put yourself through the torture of cardio if you despite it?

Start off with something that interests you whether it be functional fitness, spinning, running, Zumba, Yoga, weights, or even resistance machines. The more interested and enthusiastic you are the more likely you are to keep coming back!

The 2-Minute Rule
Start small with the 2-Minute Rule. This means starting with an exercise so easy that it only takes 2 minutes to start. Say you want to go for a walk or a run, all you have to do is put your running shoes on and grab a water bottle and you are ready to work out. Quick, easy and under 2 minutes.

Focus On The Habit, Not The Goal
Some people like to start working out by setting themselves a fitness goal but to make exercise a regular part of your life, the best way is for you to make building the habit of working out your goal instead. You could try setting a rule for yourself. For example, move your body every day, even if it's only for 5 minutes. This is a great way to ensure that you stick to your rule and build a habit over time.

Making fitness a positive daily habit will have major benefits on your mood and overall physical and mental health. Consistency is all you need to continue benefiting from your workouts.
