Coronavirus - Member Advice

20th March 2020 UPDATE

Following the government's announcement today (Friday 20th March) we will be closing our gyms for the foreseeable future and until the closure is lifted. This is in line with the new directive announced by the Prime Minister and is in the interests of supporting the national effort to suppress the spread of COVID-19 and put the health of our members and staff as our priority.

We will be in touch with all members as a matter of urgency with information about options available to you. We request that you do not cancel your membership with us and await our communication as we have several new initiatives, benefits and rewards for members which we will announce in the next few days.

We ask that you give us a little time to attend to any correspondence as we have a high volume of messages at this time. Your health is our priority.

COVID-19, more commonly known as Coronavirus is very much front and centre in our thoughts at the moment and it is likely to stay that way for some considerable time. We know that both our members and our staff will be concerned about what the future will bring.

We hold a duty of care to you, our members, and our staff and want to provide an environment where, as much as possible, it is life as usual and that we all keep healthy.

We are following government advice through its public information and guidelines. If you wish to refresh what the government is saying at any time please click on the link below.

Wash Your Hands

We have put up further signs as a reminder to thoroughly wash hands with soap and water, each time for at least 20 seconds. We are making more regular checks to ensure there is a plentiful supply of soap available.

We aim to have a supply of hand sanitisers for you to use, especially in areas where hand washing is not available, (subject to the supply of stock). New additional hand sanitiser dispensers have recently been purchased and will be available for use in our gyms.

Catch It, Bin It, Kill It

We are sure you have heard about the “Catch It, Bin It, Kill It” slogan relating to coughs and sneezes. We will supply tissues in each club for you to use if you run out of your own tissues. Please follow the slogan and catch your sneeze or cough into a tissue,or your sleeve (not your hands). Bin your used tissues immediately and then wash your hands.

We have displayed further signage to remind members to continue good personal hygiene practices, alongside posters reminding members to wipe down equipment.

Disinfecting equipment

We have increased the frequency with which our team will be cleaning gym equipment with disinfectant.

We will ensure that there are sufficient disinfectant cleaning products and paper towels in our gyms, zones and studios. New cleaning stations have now been set up in the gyms, in order to ensure all members are aware of the requirement to wipe down equipment.

We need you to help us and other members by wiping down all the equipment after you have used it.

In our classes, instructors will ensure there is enough time at the end of each class to fully clean down. This may mean that the class activity will finish a few minutes earlier to make sure this happens. We are sure we will have your understanding.

General cleaning

As well as increasing the frequency with which we thoroughly clean the equipment you use, our teams will also focus on cleaning all items that are commonly touched, i.e. fingerprint readers, doors and door handles, toilet flushes, reception desk, vending machines, members PC and keyboard etc. We will work to minimise any inconvenience this may cause.

Social Contact

Where possible we have spaced equipment further apart, or taken equipment out of use. Class capacity has been taken down by 50% to give people more room and space in the class environment.

Off Peak times at the gym, usually during the daytime and weekends provide quiter visiting times for our members to utilise the facilities.

Feeling Unwell

If you feel unwell, please do not come to the gym. If you have any of the symptoms of COVID-19 - a new continuous cough or a temperature, or have been in contact with someone who has a suspected or confirmed case of coronavirus, do not enter the gym.

If you start to feel unwell whilst in the gym, you will need to self-isolate as quickly as possible, but please do not leave the gym without reporting this fact to the club manager.

In summary, we would ask...

• Wash your hands regularly and thoroughly, for at least 20 seconds with soap and water.

• Please ensure you have a supply of tissues with you and use them to catch all coughs and sneezes, then bin the tissue and wash your hands with soap and water, (20 seconds) or use a sanitiser to kill the virus.

• Use the cleaning sprays to thoroughly wipe down machines and equipment after you have used them.

We will send out further updates on a regular basis to keep you informed. We know that there is a lot of social media content about this viral infection. We will work to ensure our communications with you are based on the facts and the latest government guidance.

Please do not hesitate to speak to our club managers if you have any queries or suggestions about what else we can do.
